Jazzy is the result of 3 years of patiently waiting for Emma, as Penelope took her own sweet time about giving us a doeling. Her Dam, Penelope was in the top 10 mini-nubians on 1-day milk test in 2020, and her Sire, Quil, brings a lot of potential to our herd. His dam and sire's dam both carry milk stars and his sire had daughters that have placed in the top 20 in Nigerians at nationals.
I love how much Jazzy has deepened through her body this year. She also seems to have an improved topline, shoulder assembly and rear udder attachments and height over her mother. Jazzy has a lot of ear control but when relaxed does have nice floppy ears. She uses her ears to tell us all her feelings. She also has a gorgeous roman nose.
Jazzy freshened last year with 2 adorable bucklings, one of whom we retained as our first ever home grown and bred buck. Jazzy sadly missed her milk star with MDGA by just 3 points with 67 points as a yearling first freshener, however did achieve her star through TMGR as they have slightly different standards. This year she easily got her milk star with MDGA with 86 points as a 2yo 2nd freshener.
Jazzy took reserve champion in the mixed breed class at the Linn county fair last year as a yearling first freshener. Jazzy took first in her class of yearling fresheners and best udder in class at the Oregon State fair in 2022, and then she an her dam, Penelope went on to win first place in Dam and Daughter. The judge had nice things to say about her potential. In the 2022 fall v-show she took second place under one judge and third place but best udder in class under the other in a competitive class of 12 other yearling first fresheners.
