Dandelion Meadows Apollo 11 *S (TMGR) DOB 5/15/2022 Dual Registered MDGA and TMGR F3 American (54.26%/45.74%) Polled and Moon spotted! Apollo is a lovely 3rd generation polled and moon spotted buckling we retained out of Jazzy this year. He started with molasses colored moon spots that have faded to a gorgeous taupe color.
Emma did a project for 4H where she had to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of her goat and pick a buck to improve the weaknesses. She decided to use Jazzy and after evaluating what our current bucks provided, as well as some of the stellar bucks in the area that offered driveway breeding, she chose Daystar's Sir Thomas. Thomas brought improved overall appearance and topline, tightened shoulders and great udder genetics to the table. His Dam, Green Gables Creme Della Creme 4*P is absolutely gorgeous, and his sire's Genetics carry well known lines like Echo Hills, Eddy Place, Blue Oaks and Paradise. We knew with Jazzy's line we were still trying to improve toplines, and rear udder height while still maintaining the beautiful dairy characteristics that she was carrying. With a first freshener, you never quite know what you are going to get, so we have been absolutely blown away by Jazzy's first freshening udder. She has a nice high rear udder with great lateral and medial attachments, and a respectable fore-udder for a first freshener. She missed her milk star with the MDGA by just 3 points on a one day test at 10 weeks fresh. Plus, she is showing improvements in several area that were weaknesses for her dam, including shoulder tightness, topline and size. We will milk test Jazzy next year and I have no doubt she will be able to obtain her milk star, which will give Apollo the opportunity to be a *B buck (his whole pedigree is chock full of milk stars). Apollo did great at his first MDGA virtual show! He took 1st place in his competitive class of 12 other junior bucklings under one judge, and took 6th under the other judge. He was commended for his wider chest floor, deeper heart girth and body capacity, and flatter, more refined shoulder. Since these were all areas we were working to improve, we were very happy with these results!
